On the Thursday of reading week, the two classes linked up once again for another day of discovery; this time here in Vienna at the Bohemian Prater. Whilst there, the pupils worked in class teams to complete a reading exercise about the history of the area, whereby they read a series of texts to help them complete a quiz. They learnt, for example, about the tough working conditions of workers from the region of Bohemia in the Czech Republic, who came to Vienna and worked in the brick-making industry, and the fact that many Bohemian (Czech) names have made their way into the German language as a result. The pupils also got to try out some of the rides at the amusement park which dates back well over 100 years! It was a fun conclusion to another enjoyable and informative day out for the two classes.
